  • I'm a lifelong Midwestern. I always think it's funny when newbies take their car to the carwash in January to clean off the road salt. When it's -30F your car doors will freeze shut. Not even a crowbar will pry your frozen doors open. You'll have to wait until spring thaw in March or April before you can drive your car again. 😁

  • I'm from west central Wisconsin, one year we were headed to our family cabin. when we left it was -40, we drove 1 1/2 hours north and stopped for breakfast. it was -10 there and we got out of our truck in a t-shirt and pants. no one put a coat on as it felt like it was 40 outside. That weekend was some of the worst ice fishing i've ever done. Oh yeah, the cabin didn't have a bathroom it has an outhouse where if you didn't grab the seat from inside the warm cabin you sat on the wood of the outhouse at -10. Great times!

  • Lol, im from San Diego, CA and I wear tank top, shorts, and fishing shoes in Wisconsin at 30 degrees lol. Just moved here and it isn't so bad. Just felt 20 degree wind. Feels nice. My car's battery did die on me lol.

  • NY here. Can relate. I have a buddy who is a police officer in Yuma, Arizona. We have a running gag where we send each other weather related pictures from our states. For example, I will send him a picture of my neighbor shoveling 16 inches of snow off his property in a tee shirt and he will send me people in wool knee high socks when it's 75F outside. My favorite picture he has ever sent is a shot from inside his cruiser. The cruiser has a digital external temperature read out inside. The shot is through the windshield at a gas station. In the lower left corner, you can see the external temperature is 67F, and there is a woman at a gas pump filling her car in a full blown parka who is desperate to get back in the heat of her vehicle.

  • Nail on the head man. I live in New Mexico and last year I spent 6 months for work in Nebraska. That polar vertex was insane. I never seen so much snow. That -4F for the high brought me back to chiseling the ice off my tires just to get to work one frigid morning. Yikes!

  • Lol 25 isn't that bad. -15 is when the schools have a delay in northern Indiana, and -50 windchill and 20 inches of snow in a day is when the factories close cause no one can get there.

  • I'm a Floridian, and I can tell you that my ass gets cold when the temp drops below 70! My first time in the cold, my wife asked me what the temp was outside, so I looked at the thermometer on the porch. It said 0, so I told her "There isn't one!" It didn't take me long to figure out why the fucking birds leave in the winter!

  • Ya'll act like it's so cold and so much snow falls in the mid west 😂. Try visiting Newfoundland, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba or Ontario OR BASICALLY ANYWHERE in Canada during the winter lmao. Newfoundland gets like 20 foot snowfalls. Basically anywhere is susceptible to getting down to 40 below especially the western provinces. haha mid western america is a cake walk.

    • Those poles with the road signs in Nova Scotia that are 20' high in residential housing areas did pose an "what the hell is the name of the road doing way up there?" query in a summer vacation. Now I know its for the Emergency services if they need to find your house. So yeah, the snowfall is super heavy. Alberta hitting the -30s is sort of a meh deal. Doesn't last too long maybe 3 weeks then it gets warm again, back to the low -20s. Working outside 10 hours a day for weeks on end can be uncomfortable but when the Next Winter super storm that lasts 9 months comes I'm prepared. Oh, wait....Alberta just went through that. All good in the hood!
